My Version of Bhindi Masala
Waking up one day craving for something different so I turn on my computer and start searching for a different yet delicious and healthy dish. I stumble on this dish called Bhindi Masala aka Okra Curry it looks good and Okra being one of my favorite vegetable I totally craved for it. I don't have all the ingredients for the authentic Bhindi Masala so I just improvised and made my own version of it. Guess what? It does taste good!
Here is my recipe for Bhindi Masala, you'll be needing:
3 bunches of Okra (trim off the head and cut into 1 inch think)
2 tbsp. oil
2 tsp. turmeric powder
2 medium sized onions (chopped)
3 plum tomatoes (sliced)
1 inch sized ginger (grated)
2 cloves garlic (grated)
1 tsp. red chili powder
salt and pepper to taste
Procedure:
1. heat up wok in a medium heat, when hot add oil. Add Okras, stir fry them until half cooked. This process will lessen the sticky texture of the Okra.
2. When the Okras are half cooked, add chopped onions, grated ginger and garlic. Saute for 30 seconds or so.
3. Add chili powder and turmeric powder. Saute them all together for another 10 seconds.
4. Add the sliced tomatoes then salt and pepper to taste. Saute for another 10 seconds.
5. Serve with rice or naan bread.
This serving is good for 2-3 people.
Bhindi Masala a very healthy and delicious dish that you'll surely love. It's also great for vegan and people who wants to lose weight. Try it and enjoy!
